Attempts by Zulu royal members to bury hatchet after days of tensions

Durban - After days of heated exchanges and accusations, there are internal attempts by members of the Zulu royal court to reconcile and give Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu a dignified burial identical to the one given to the King Goodwill Zwelithini.
On Monday, senior members of the royal court, Princess Thembi Ndlovu (nee Zulu), Princess Mbonisi Zulu and Prince Mathuba Zulu, among others, attended an evening meeting at Kwakhangelamankengane Palace in Nongoma where the mourning for Dlamini Zulu is taking place.
Walking into the palace, Prince Mbonisi briefly said they have been called to a meeting which would be attended by, among others, Queen Mayvis Zungu, the only surviving wife of the late King Cyprian Bhekuzulu, the father of the King Goodwill Zwelithini.
A delegation is transporting the remains of the Zulu Regent to her final resting place.
Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Thursday.
The Queen of the Zulu Nation died just over a month after King Goodwill Zwelithini s death.
The mortal remains of her majesty, Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu, have departed from the Hillbrow Mortuary in Johannesburg and is embarking on a journey home.
The Queen of the Zulu Nation died on 29 April 2021, just over a month after King Goodwill Zwelithini s death.
Her death in a Johannesburg hospital at the age of 65 was announced by traditional prime minister to the Zulu monarchy and nation, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu afforded provincial funeral by Presidency
Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu will be interred in a private ceremony and her memorial service will take place on Friday, 07 May 2021.
Queen Mantfombi Dlamini-Zulu will interred at the crack of down in a private burial at the KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace on Friday, May 7. The KwaZulu-Natal Premier’s office confirmed on Tuesday.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Sihle Zikalala said on Tuesday that he has appointed four MEC’s to to work with the Royal Family to facilitate a fitting farewell for Her Majesty the Queen. The MEC’s include MEC for Transport and Community Safety – Peggy Nkonyeni, MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development – Bongi Sithole-Moloi, MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs – Sipho Hlomuka and MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, Hlengiwe Mavimbela.
KZN Premier assigns four MECs to assist divided Zulu monarchy to prepare for Queen Mantfombiâs funeral

NONGOMA: KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala has assigned four of his MECs to assist the troubled and divided Zulu monarchy to prepare for the funeral of the late Queen Regent Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu, who passed away on Thursday last week, aged 65.
The assigning of the MECs follows a decision by President Cyril Ramaphosa, to grant the late queen a state funeral (provincial level).
The assigned MECs are Peggy Nkonyeni for Transport and Community Safety, Bongi Sithole-Moloi of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sipho Hlomuka of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and Hlengiwe Mavimbela of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation.
