Bank executive Ed Grimes to run for Montgomery City Council

Montgomery native and career banking executive Ed Grimes has announced a bid for the Montgomery City Council District 1 seat left vacant by the death of Richard Bollinger. Bollinger, a three-term councilman, died in March after battling cancer. Voters will choose his successor July 13, with a runoff set for Aug. 24. District 1 includes a wide swath of the city stretching from central to east Montgomery. Grimes is the vice president of business services at Max Credit Union and a political newcomer, but he said Bollinger encouraged him to run for office after working with him on Lagoon Park Trail. Grimes praised Bollinger’s work ethic and advocacy for District 1 and said he would take the same approach, with a focus on “out-of-the-box” solutions for public education and crime.
