Vaccinated Alabamians can now return to some pre-pandemic normalcy. The CDC announced that fully vaccinated people can go without their masks in indoor spaces and in large gatherings outside.

Huntsville city officials met Thursday to discuss coronavirus vaccination efforts and the expansion of eligibility to children 12 years old and up.
Tracy Doughty, Vice President of Operations at Huntsville Hospital, said if you’re hesitant to sign your child up for a vaccine to speak with your child’s pediatrician.
Area student inducted into Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society

BEAVER – Tracy Doughty of Beaver has been initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Doughty is a student at Youngstown State University and is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi this year.
Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

The Huntsville area COVID-19 team will hold a news conference and community briefing on Thursday, April 8, at 1 p.m. in the 1st floor Chambers of Huntsville City Hall.
Mayor Tommy Battle will address the expiration of the mask order on Friday and the City’s plans to continue masking in municipal offices.
EMA Director Jeff Birdwell will update the public on vaccination numbers and positive COVID-10 cases.
Huntsville Hospital’s Senior VP of Operations, Tracy Doughty, will discuss vaccine supply and testing.

Huntsville officials on Thursday shared new strategies for securing an appointment to receive a COVID-19 vaccination shot as the statewide mask mandate expires Friday.
Huntsville Hospital plans to launch a new online signup portal to schedule appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, an update designed to better facilitate the availability of the vaccine without some of the pitfalls of people skipping appointments.
The Madison County Health Department is also encouraging phone calls to see if missed appointments could be immediately filled by those wanting to get inoculated.
