Health Department impressed with recent vaccine registrations

Vermonters ages 16 and up can now register to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Over the weekend, those between the ages of 16 and 18 were given the green light to sign up for their dose. Vermont’s health department says they’re impressed by the number of people in this new age bracket who have registered already. Seeing 11,500 new appointments just by noon on Monday. According to Tracy Dolan, Deputy Commissioner of Vermont Health Department, 34% of Vermonters 16 to 17 years old, have either registered or received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Like us on Facebook.   MONTPELIER — The courts are preparing to hold back-to-back jury trials in May after the jury trial restart in Windham County fell through last month. Officials have greenlighted eight courthouses to resume jury trials amid the pandemic, but they don’t include those in Bennington County. Windham County will get another shot at paving the way for the resumption of jury trials, with a jury draw set for May 17 in Brattleboro, according to State’s Attorney Tracy Shriver. Three more counties have also scheduled jury selections next month: Windsor on May 20, Washington on May 24 and Rutland on May 26-28. The others that have gotten approval — Caledonia, Chittenden and Lamoille counties — will be up in June, said Vermont Chief Superior Judge Brian Grearson. SADIE, LILA AND CARINA BRIGHTMAN Can you feel it? Spring is tugging us outside, begging us to shed our hats, mitts, coats and oh, heavens maybe even our masks. After a year of carefully considering COVID precautions, the promise of vaccines and the nicer weather have many of us grasping for the light at the end of the tunnel.  Matt Bonner a musician, writer, producer and entrepreneur from Cornwall has been feeling this way since the New Year when he wrote “Daylight,” a song envisioning “coming back together, hope and connection and daylight.” He recently coordinated with 20 other local musicians to produce a music video that premiered two weeks ago during Porter Auxiliary’s fundraising event “Laughter Is The Best Medicine.”
