DLD, Indian Consulate explore opportunities to strengthen investment relations
Strong relations and a comprehensive strategic partnership in various fields link the UAE to India
Sultan Butti bin Mejren, director general of Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Dr Aman Puri, consul general, Indian Consulate Dubai, recently discussed means to strengthen relations with the Indian investor community and the possibility of opening new areas of partnership, in addition to identifying the best practices in the real estate market.
This came during a meeting recently held at the DLD in the presence of Majida Ali Rashid, CEO of the Real Estate Promotion and Investment Management Sector, and a number of officials from the Real Estate Promotion and Investment Management Sector at DLD.

Dubai Land Department (DLD) and Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI), an agency of Dubai Economy, joined forces to lay down a general framework that would enhance the attractiveness of investment in Dubai by attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), expanding the scope of promotions and knowledge sharing as well as organising joint activities that will directly serve the strategic objectives of the emirate. To achieve these objectives, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) defining the relevant areas of cooperation and laying out a roadmap.
Dubai records $48bn real estate transactions in 2020
DUBAI, February 3, 2021 Dubai’s real estate market continued to be attractive to local and global investors in 2020, with the sector recording 51,414 transactions worth over AED175 billion ($48 billion), according to the Dubai Land Department (DLD). The report revealed that real estate sales reached AED72.5 billion with 35,423 transactions, while mortgages recorded 12,958 transactions with a total value exceeding AED87.7 billion, and grants recorded 3,033 transactions worth over AED15 billion. The DLD report also showed that Dubai had attracted 31,648 new investors who concluded 41,571 investments worth over AED73.2 billion. The sector was able to achieve a high volume of transactions despite the global Covid-19 crisis, stated Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD.
