SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir will soon roll out a new policy to attract filmmakers and bring back the golden era of filmmaking in the union territory, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said here on Monday.
Virtually addressing a two-day conference on ”tapping the tourism potential of Kashmir – another day in paradise” – organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism at SKICC on the banks of the Dal Lake here, Sinha said various tourist spots of Kashmir were favourite destinations of the Mumbai-based film industry in the 1960s and 1970s.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir’s lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha Monday said that the administration led by him will dole out the “New Film Policy for J&K” within ten days with an aim to bring back the golden era on the silver screen.
Addressing the two-day Conference on Tapping the Tourism Potential of Kashmir Another Day in Paradise at SKICC on the banks of famous Dal Lake here, through virtual mode, the LG Sinha said that the J&K government has almost finalized the new film policy after thorough deliberations with the stakeholders and the same will be announced within ten days from now.
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir LG’s Advisor Baseer Ahmed Khan Monday said that as the temperatures will rise across the country in the next few months, J&K is all set to witness a bumper tourism season as a record number of tourists are expected to visit Kashmir and explore its beauty and hospitality.
Addressing the two-brainstorming conference on Tapping the Tourism Potential Another Day in Paradise at SKICC here, Advisor Khan said that the conference is all set to end on a very fruitful, constructive and positive note. “There will be a roadmap after thorough deliberations on how to promote Kashmir’s tourism potential and the road map will be followed in spirit,” he said as per news agency KNO).

“The policy entails a road map on how we can bring back Kashmir’s golden era on the silver screen in the 70s and 80s. We have been reading and hearing that Kashmir used to be the favourite destination of Bollywood filmmakers. We as a team will work to bring back that lost era,” Sinha said.
