The EB-5 regional centre investor programme has been put “on pause” as the deadline for US Congress to extend it ended on June 30. However, the direct EB-5, under which applicants directly make an investment in the US in order to be eligible for a green card, will continue as before.
“Consistent with USCIS’ recent precedent and verbal representations, we fully expect USCIS (US Citizenship and Immigration Services) to preserve the status quo during this short-term programme lapse and not jeopardise investors’ immigration status,” said Tom Rosenfeld, president of CanAm Enterprises, an EB-5 regional centre operator.
