The victim was transported to hospital on the morning of Aug. 1, but he later died of his injuries, according to an IIO media release. Police arrested the man who they were searching for that night following the mental health call at around 2 p.m. the next day.

Officers cleared by IIO after police dog bites suspect s genitals causing serious injury

Officers cleared by IIO after police dog bites suspect’s genitals causing serious injury The Independent Investigation Office of British Columbia has released a decision regarding an incident in Burnaby last summer that resulted in serious injuries to a suspect. A police dog handler has been cleared of any wrongdoing after his canine partner clamped down on a domestic-assault suspect’s genital for up to 20 seconds. The suspect needed “extensive surgery” to fix the damage. The decision from the IIO outlines the incident, which happened in the early hours of July 19. Police received a 911 call from the residence in question and the caller, who was in a heated argument with another person in the home, alleged there had been a domestic assault.
