Indonesia s Merak port which separates the two major islands of Java and Sumatra will only open two of its eight docks on May 6-17 in observing a travel ban on the annual exodus, locally known as mudik , ahead of the Islamic holy festival Eid al-Fitr to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Format
Heavy rain on Sumatra Island (particularly the West Sumatra Province) since 9 May, triggered a landslide, resulting in casualties and damage.
The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reports 7 fatalities, one person missing and 9 injured following the landslide on 10 May in a mining area in the Sangir Batang Hari District (South Solok Regency, West Sumatra Province). A number of people have been evacuated to a local health centre.
More heavy rain is forecast over most of Sumatra over the next 24 hours, with locally very heavy rain over northern and central parts.

Jarunis has taken care of it since it was still a baby. He bought it from an animal market and named it after Tiwi Pekanbaru, Riau (ANTARA) - The Riau Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) evacuated an agile gibbon to its transit cage before releasing this endangered primate back into its natural habitat.
This gibbon was handed over to the BKSDA officials by Jarunis, a resident of the Rumbai neighborhood area in Pekanbaru City. Jarunis had taken care of the primate for six years.
