Isuzu UK has named Welsh franchised retailer David Taylor Garages as its Dealer of the Year 2021 as it celebrated the “talent and expertise across its growing UK network” with a string of awards presentations.
Last week the 4x4 specialist brand revealed its plans to expand its UK retail network by 10 sites in 2021 as it prepared for growth resulting from the imminent launch of the new D-Max pick-up.
But before gathering momentum with the new addition to dealership, it handed out awards to high-achieving operators who topped 18 categories, recognising a wide range of services, from customer care and finance to accessory and fleet sales.
Subaru introduces facelifted XV
Subaru has announced a revised version of its XV compact crossover.
Available from March 1, the new XV brings an updated exterior design as well as additional driver assistance technology.
Priced from £31,665 – the same price as the current model – the updated XV is available in one of two trim levels – SE or SE Premium. Standard equipment on both includes all-wheel-drive, Subaru’s EyeSight suite of driver assistance technology and LED headlights. Heated front seats and an eight-inch infotainment system incorporating both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard on all cars, too.
Higher-specification SE Premium cars – priced from £33,665 – add leather upholstery, a power-adjustable drivers’ seat and satellite navigation.
Year-on-year sales were down by as whopping 68 percent.
The global pandemic had a huge impact on new car sales in 2020, but it wasn t bad news for every automaker. Many car manufacturers still managed to end the year on a high with record sales months. Subaru s US sales, for example, were up by 16 percent in September 2020 compared to September 2019 thanks to popular models like the Forester. In December 2020, Subaru shipped 63,558 in the US, a two percent increase compared to the same month in 2019.
It s a different story in the UK, however, where Subaru s sales figures were alarmingly low in 2020. Autocar reports Subaru delivered just 951 cars in the UK last year compared to just under 3,000 the year before - that s a dramatic year-on-year drop of over 68 percent. Ouch. 2020 was a horrible year, said Subaru UK Managing Director, John Hurtig.
Subaru UK managing director has said that the Japanese car brand needs to “rebuild the dealer network from the roots” as it bids to overcome an “embarrassing” 2020 sales result.
