New Delhi, May 17 : The Indian Railways has been able to deliver over 10,000 MT of oxygen across the country, Railway Board Chairman Suneet Sharma said on Monday.
Addressing a virtual press conference, he said: Reached milestone of carrying 10,000 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen on Monday morning on Oxygen Express. Oxygen Express delivered the life-saving gas to 13 states.
Noting 800 MT oxygen has been transported on a daily basis, Sharma said that 269 Oxygen Expresses have delivered 10,302 MT of LMO to different states since April 19.

The Railways, which is seeing about 1,000 COVID-19 cases among employees daily on an average, has so far vaccinated around 4.32 lakh workers, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Suneet Sharma said on Monday.
Mr. Sharma said they are in talks with the State governments to immunise the remaining staff. The Railways is among the largest employers in India with over 12 lakh staff.

Cyclone Tauktae has so far not affected Indian Railways’ oxygen transportation and sufficient precautions are in place, said the Railways. Its trains have transported over 10,000 tonnes of oxygen across 13 States as on date.
Railway Board Chairman and CEO Suneet Sharma said in a virtual conference here on Monday, since the start of oxygen transportation from April 24 to Maharashtra, it has now scaled up to about 800 tonnes a day to various locations and will soon be transporting 1,000 tonnes.
Almost 4.32 lakh railway men have been vaccinated against Covid, said Sharma. Indian Railways has about 11-12 lakh employees. .
