Off to his strongest start in four seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series, Liberty University online student William Byron hasn’t forgotten those who have fought for and sacrificed their lives in service to the United States of America, assuring the freedom its citizens celebrate every Memorial Day.
For the fourth year in a row, Byron will drive in the 600 Miles of Remembrance at Charlotte Motor Speedway in honor of a fallen service member with Liberty ties. This year, Byron will sport the name of Staff Sgt. Cole Condiff on the windshield of his No. 24 Liberty University Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE. The name and the car’s patriotic paint scheme were unveiled by the Hendrick Motorsports team on Thursday.

Liberty University kicked off its 48th Commencement exercises with its ninth annual Military Graduate Recognition Ceremony, held virtually from the Center for Music and the Worship Arts Concert Hall on Monday night.
“Liberty has always been very, very military friendly, and it is a wonderful honor for me personally to tell each of you how proud we are of you,” said Dr. Ron Hawkins, Liberty’s former provost and the founding dean of the School of Behavioral Sciences, as he welcomed families to the ceremony following a half hour of testimonial slides from military and military spouse graduates.

THE Kachin Independence Army (KIA), one of Myanmar’s most powerful rebel groups, said it had shot down a helicopter after returning fire following airstrikes by the military, an official at the group said.
The United Nations estimates that tens of thousands of civilians have fled their homes as a result of the fighting between the military and ethnic insurgents in remote northern and eastern frontier regions.
The conflict intensified after Myanmar’s generals seized power on Feb1, ousting the elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi.
