Great escapes for future family spring breaks outside of Washington Lori A. May, SeattlePI
Spring break looks a little different this year with remote learning and virtual workcations filling in the winter gaps as leisure travel resumes. As the coronavirus vaccine makes its rounds, and families consider how to travel safely during the pandemic, routine events like taking a family spring break may almost seem normal once again.
Before you book your family getaway, be sure to research what it’s like to fly right now and verify the local health and safety guidelines of your intended destination. While many travel hot spots are operating, there are variances when it comes to dining venue protocols, attraction hours and capacity limitations, and local regulations to follow when visiting parks and beaches.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center’s annual winter fundraiser event, Champagne & Chocolate, will be delivered differently than in previous years. In place of the traditional live event usually held in late January at the museum, this year’s fundraising event will be delivered in boxes.
Valentines Delivered: Date Night in a Box will benefit the museum’s artifact conservation, collections, exhibits and educational programming, according to a press release sent by the Customs House.
Champagne & Chocolate can’t be held due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings.
“For an alternative Valentine’s date night, the Museum is offering premium boxes along with a handful of themed luxury boxes so anyone can choose their own unique date night experience,” Museum Guild president Una Smith said in the release.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s City Council approved the purchase of the Roxy Regional Theatre by the city for $810,000 at a special session held Thursday evening, Dec. 17.
In this first reading, the Council voted 10 yes’s to 0 no’s on the purchase. Councilmen Jeff Henley and Gary Norris abstained from voting, Norris being a non-voting member of the Roxy Board. Councilman Tim Chandler was absent from the session.
“This was the natural next step in our view toward getting a new building on the corner of Franklin and First to give the Roxy a world-class theatre, and also to give the community a world-class event space,” said Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts.
