A recently released crime lab report on the fatal police shooting of a troubled Overland Park teenager in 2018 has prompted new questions about whether the officer may have been cleared of wrongdoing prematurely.
The report by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office’s crime lab was obtained by Sheila Albers, the mother of the shooting victim John Albers.
Kansas CPOST, the agency that regulates police officers in the state, decided Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez did nothing wrong when he said the officer who shot and killed a teenager left the department under ordinary circumstances. Photo credit Sam Zeff/KCUR 89.3.
After two months of investigating, the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training (CPOST) the organization that regulates police officers’ licenses in the state has decided not to act against the certification of Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez.
The decision was in connection to a complaint filed by Sheila Albers, the mother of 17-year-old John Albers, who was shot to death by an Overland Park police officer in 2018.

TikTok is aiming to have as many as 2,000 staff working onsite at its new Dublin offices by the first quarter of 2022 following its selection of the Sorting Office as the location for its Irish operations.
While TikTok’s move to the city’s south docklands has yet to be formalised with the building’s owners, Mapletree Investments, the Chinese-headquartered social-media company is understood to have agreed terms to lease the property on the basis of a 15-year lease with 10 years term-certain and a rent-free period of around 18 months.
