Glanbia seeks additional gluten-free oat growers

Glanbia Ireland s Mariea O’Toole with farmer, Jonny Greene. The area of gluten-free oats sown by Glanbia Ireland’s grain farmers doubled in 2020 compared to 2019. Now, the company is looking for more growers of the crop. Glanbia Ireland operates a ‘closed-loop’ supply chain in production of gluten-free oats (GFO) and is the only certified supplier of gluten-free oats in Ireland, with 75 dedicated growers and a unique supply chain. Recent rain, followed by a warm spell, mean it is looking like being a good harvest at this stage of crop development, according to Glanbia Ireland’s grain development and sales manager, Donal Moloney.

Easter Sunday Mass celebrated at penal laws era site on Achill Island ‘When I got there this morning the sky was completely clear. all I could hear was the little waves rushing up on to the beach’ about 5 hours ago   An early morning Mass to celebrate Easter Sunday has been held at a Mass rock overlooking picturesque Keem Bay on Achill Island. Fr Gerard Quirke of the Achill parish celebrated 7am Mass at the site which was used during the era of penal laws when Catholics endured restrictions on their civil liberties. It was the first time the religious service has been celebrated at this particular site in living memory.
