Datalex considering raising additional capital

Aviation travel software company, Datalex, has confirmed it is examining options to raise additional capital.
No decision has been made yet on the size of the investment to be sought or when it will happen, but chief executive Sean Corkery said it would be material and would be in a medium term timeframe. But I think more importantly is the importance that we put on having a strong balance sheet, going into an investment cycle that we believe airlines are going to make in digital commerce, and we want to be a partner that has a strong balance sheet, he said.

Limerick company acquired by Boston health giant Cambrooke

PLASSEY-based medical nutrition company Nualtra has been acquired by an American giant in that field.
Nualtra, founded by Paul Gough, and backed by former Dell executive Sean Corkery, was picked up by Massachusetts-based therapeutic nutrition company Ajinomoto Cambrooke for an undisclosed sum.
The firm started life in 2012, and focused on the delivery of nutritional supplements that are most often prescribed by doctors to those suffering malnutrition, such as elderly or cancer patients.
Earlier this year, it won a significant contract to supply its weight control product Altralife to the British National Health Service (NHS) as part of a new diet programme for patients with type two diabetes.
The company made a profit of almost €1.7m last year.
It does not publicly report turnover, which was understood to be about €10m in 2018.
Mr Buckley is the former chairman of Independent News & Media, while Mr Corkery is the former chief executive of Actavo. Both are former non-executive directors of Denis O’Brien’s Digicel telecoms firm. Mr Buckley and his family own more than 22pc of Nualtra.
Mr Corkery is the chief executive of stock market-listed Irish travel software firm Datalex. He is also Mr Gough’s father-in-law. Mr Corkery owns almost 13pc of Nualtra.
Cambrooke, which was acquired by Ajinomoto in 2007, said Nualtra has been the fastest-growing nutrition supplement provider in Ireland and the UK for a number of years.
