China beetles infesting gooseberry plants in Arunachal Pradesh, say scientists

The first infestation was reported in the orchards of College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh by Dr. M. M. Kumawat in the year 2017.
GUWAHATI: Scientists have found evidence of China beetles infesting gooseberry or amla plants in Arunachal Pradesh. It is anticipated that this China beetle may spread to major litchi and gooseberry growing states like Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, if quarantine measures are not taken.
Chinese stem borer beetle Aristobia reticulator (Voet) has been recorded on Indian gooseberry from Arunachal Pradesh in India.
