China imposes massive travel restrictions to combat Delta outbreak

China has imposed massive travel restrictions, including temporary closure of airports and travel alerts for citizens to other places across the country, to contain the spread of the Delta variant.
All 31 provincial-level regions in the Chinese mainland have urged citizens not to go to medium and high-risk areas for COVID-19 or leave the provinces where they live unless it is necessary.
Twenty-three railway stations have halted ticket sales for Beijing-bound passengers departing from these stations, said Cui Wei, an official with China Railway Beijing Group Co. Ltd. on Tuesday.
The Chinese capital has suspended 13 pairs of trains to Nanjing and Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province, Zhengzhou in Henan Province and Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province.
, the CR400AF-G train, a high-speed bullet train, can not only reach speeds up to 350 kilometers per hour (217 miles per hour), but it can also withstand temperatures reaching as low as -40 degrees Celsius (also -40 degrees Fahrenheit).
The new train is owned and operated by China State Railway Group and made its debut in Beijing on Jan. 6. The train is meant to connect the capital city to some of China s northeastern destinations, hence the reason for it to be cold resistant.
The train will operate between Beijing and cities like Shenyang and Harbin, CNN
reported. Harbin is located in China s coldest state and is home to the annual International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. It s currently not clear when the train will be fully operational and able to transport passengers.

A new type of Fuxing high-speed bullet train that can operate under temperatures as low as -40 C made its debut in Beijing on Thursday.
The CR400AF-G train will run on a new high-speed railway line connecting Beijing and northeastern destinations including Shenyang and Harbin, the respective capital cities of Liaoning and Heilongjiang provinces. The rail service will begin operation soon, according to the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, but an exact date has not yet been revealed.

Test runs on an intercity high-speed railway line linking Beijing and Xiong an New Area in Hebei province entered their final stage on Tuesday, China Railway Beijing Group said.
The line is expected to open at the end of this month.
Initially, trains will take about 50 minutes to travel from Beijing West Railway Station in the capital s Fengtai district to Xiong an Railway Station in Xiongxian county, it said. In the future, the time can be cut to about 36 minutes after further upgrading of an old section of the line, Li Zheng, a Xiong an Intercity Railway director, told China Central Television.
