Pilot programs modernize airport experience with virtual queuing for general screening security checkpoints and tap-free airline check-in kiosks
Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA) is innovating with seamless, touchless travel to improve ease and wellness at the airport. Two pilot programs are testing ways to modernize the passenger experience with SEA Spot Saver, which explores digital reservations for the TSA general screening security checkpoints, and happyhover™, a technology deployed to airline check-in kiosks for travelers to check in and drop off luggage without touching the electronic screens.

The King County Council unanimously approved a new climate strategy Tuesday, aimed at cutting the county s climate-harming pollution in half in less than a decade.
In addition to halving the climate impact of Washingtonâs most populous county by 2030, the strategy aims to cut countywide emissions 80% by 2050.
The measure also sets a steeper goal for county government operations, including the King County International Airport, better known as Boeing Field: cut emissions 80% by 2030.

There are two touchless technology pilot programs coming to the airport, one of which will basically save your spot in the TSA checkpoint line.
“The first one is called SEA Spot Saver. Essentially this is a virtual queuing program that allows you to save a spot in the TSA line prior to getting to the airport,” Sam Cho, spokesperson with the Port of Seattle, told KIRO Radio.
“You’ll be able to actually sign up for a time for you to go into the line. If you think about the TSA lines, they’re really long. So this is an opportunity for us to experiment in the times of COVID to figure out a faster way to do it,” he explained.
