A COUNCILLOR has raised concerns at the rise in assaults in the city after a young boy was attacked. Police said a boy of secondary school age was grabbed and pushed in the Chiswick Street area of Carlisle at about 8am on Friday. The councillor is worried that since lockdown begins to ease the numbers are going up - and he wants more to be done. Carlisle City Councillor Jeffrey Bomford said: “Carlisle as a whole is getting concerning with the increase of assaults. “It is a concern because people are getting desperate for money or for different reasons. “There could be debts trying to be reclaimed for different things - there are loads of different issues out there.
A FORMER Royal Navy officer was caught with a vile and disgusting haul of child sexual abuse images when police visited his Carlisle home. Frank Galloway, 63, was brought to book amid a wider National Crime Agency probe into an IP address linked to a dark web forum associated with the exploitation of youngsters. Officers went to Galloway’s home on August 16, 2019, telling him why they were there. He responded: “It’s me you need to speak to.” He identified electronic equipment. “The devices were seized and analysed, and found to contain indecent images of children,” prosecutor Alexandra Sutton told Carlisle Crown Court, “along with file-cleaning software and search terms indicative of a sexual interest in children.”
