London Borough of Hounslow
Hounslow is one of the most culturally diverse areas in the UK. It’s an attractive place to live and work, with miles of river, canals, nature reserves and open spaces. The borough has some of the most beautiful parks and open spaces in London, with no fewer than five historic houses and landscape gardens. Covering 23 square miles, it stretches from Heathrow Airport in the west to Chiswick in the east. The borough has excellent transport links: the A4 and M4 run through the borough and the area has eight London Underground stations and seven mainline railway stations.
TWO bus services had to divert their route at the weekend due to inconsiderate parking. The last two X8 Morebus services from Poole and Blandford had to divert on Saturday, February 13 as Gurkha Road was impassable. Two parked cars caused the disruption, which lasted until the next morning, by not leaving enough room for buses to pass. Morebus operations manger, Paul Knight said: We were informed at 6.21pm on Saturday that Gurkha Road was impassable. This resulted in the last two X8 services from Poole and Blandford having to divert. The road was still impassable at 10.21am the following day. It wasn t until 11.56am that police were able to attend the area and speak to the offending vehicle owners, that the road was cleared for our vehicles to pass. This would have resulted in the first two X8 services from Blandford and the first from Poole having to divert again.

However, transport chiefs have defended their decision to enforce the penalty notices. Deputy Leader of Hampshire County Council and Executive Member for Economy, Transport and Environment, Cllr Rob Humby said: In early January Openreach undertook work on their apparatus in the Gordon Road area of Fareham and I can confirm that all the appropriate signs were erected 72 hours in advance of these works starting, as is normally required. Our Civil Enforcement Officers also knocked the doors of all properties likely to be affected by the parking suspension, including properties in Gordon Road, to let residents know.” He also added that residents could follow the appeals procedure against the fines
