Sant’olina

There’s an Israeli-Mediterranean restaurant pop-up headed to the rooftop of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Sant’olina – the latest project from h.wood Group – is scheduled to open in early March and run indefinitely. The mezze-forward menu will include fresh hummus, marinated feta, harissa-cured salmon, bourekas stuffed with farmers cheese, and heirloom beets with labneh. Open for dinner and weekend brunch.

The Bungalow Kitchen
Chef Michael Mina and nightlife impresario Brent Bolthouse have partnered on the Bungalow Kitchen, a casual clubhouse-inspired restaurant set to open March 4. The Bungalow Kitchen sits on the waterfront in Long Beach’s Belmont Shore and builds on Bolthouse’s other Bungalow restaurants. Expect dishes like shellfish served over ice or charcoal-grilled; short rib “Pop-Tarts”
Bethalto
Ollie Buchanan, 77, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 at her residence.
Born March 1, 1943 in Red Bay, AL, she was the daughter of Eugene and Ella (McGee) Young.
She had worked 28 years in custodial services for the Bethalto School District before retiring in 2005.
On March 18, 1962 in Sikeston, MO, she married Marvin Buchanan. He survives.
Surviving also are two sons, Randy Buchanan of Clermont, FL, Tim (Ashley) Buchanan of Bethalto; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Young, Troy Young; and a sister, Deatta Johnson.
Her parents and two sisters, Betty Bennet and Martha young preceded in death.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at a later date.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) is “ramping up” efforts to rebuild and improve its transmission network on Abaco, the company said yesterday.
In a statement giving an update on progress in restoring electricity to the island that was knocked out during Hurricane Dorian in September 2019, BPL said continues “working to restore supply to a number of cays, repairing or preparing to replace subsea cables damaged by the storm”.
According to the statement, BPL teams are continuing work to connect lines from the cays to the mainland to eliminate the need for temporary generation, as well as installing nearly 200 streetlights on the mainland and cays.
FDA Pet Food Recall Expanded as 70 Dog Deaths Now Linked to Toxic Midwestern Products

At least 70 dogs have died after consuming poisonous pet food that is now being urgently recalled by regulators.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is recalling additional of brands manufactured by Midwestern Pet Foods following the discovery of potentially fatal levels of aflatoxin in some batches.
The company had already recalled three varieties of Sportmix dog foods and cat foods in December after 28 dog deaths wee linked to the food.
Another 42 dogs have died after eating the products in the past two weeks.
