Red Wing High School will hold prom Saturday, May 22.Â
The grand march will take place outdoors so community members can watch. Prom participants will march out the schoolâs main doors and follow the street toward the back of the school, past the greenhouse and enter prom behind the cafe.Â
Spectators are asked to stay on the grass and practice social distancing. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
Prom will begin immediately after the grand march and end at 10:30 p.m.

Arnold Leon Usem, age 91, of Burnsville, passed away May 14, 2021. Preceded in death by wife, Harriet; parents, Louis & Jessie Usem; brother, Sidney Usem; daughter, Linda (Usem) Libman. Survived by children, Carolyn “Cookie” Usem (Becky Stuart), Mark Usem (Lynn Mandle Usem); son-in-law, Cary Libman; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Arnie was born in Red Wing, MN. He graduated from Red Wing High School in 1947. He attended the University of Minnesota and played in the U of M band for 1 year, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1948. He was very proud to have played in numerous U.S. Army Bands in the United States, and served in the 98th Army Band in Trieste, Italy, during the Korean War. Arnie was discharged from the army in 1952 and went to work at the family business, Usem Furniture, in Red Wing. Having completed an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information technology support âwith honors â heâs well prepared to find employment, continue his education, or embark on new adventures.
âLife is about the journey, not the destination. I donât know yet about the future â I have a lot of journey still left,â he said philosophically.Â
But his outlook wasnât always so bright. In fact, his first encounter with MSC Southeast was in an appeals meeting, where he had to convince the Student Affairs team that he was ready to succeed in college.Â
