An impressive 98 projects, all excellent, were submitted to the jury of the Lo spazio dei libri architecture competition. Brainchild of festival president Antonella Ferrara and the architect and University of Palermo professor Giovanni Francesco Tuzzolino, the competition open to international architecture and engineering students regarded the creation of a small wooden reading pavilion in the magnificent central piazza of Taormina for the eleventh edition of the Taobuk literature festival (17-21 June 2021). In addition to the top three prizes, the jury (Prof. Tuzzolino, the Valencia architect Fran Silvestre, the authors Evelina Santangelo and Helena Janeczek, and Abitare managing editor Sara Banti) also awarded three honourable mentions to projects featured in the gallery for this post, and distinction to five projects for their creativity and the quality of the project materials.
