JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - One bride-to-be and a couple of businesses explain the pandemic has thrown obstacles, but 2021 is looking up for the wedding industry.
On Saturday, the Northeast Arkansas Bridal Expo was held at the Red Wolf Convention Center. The event was canceled last year, but several brides say they are making up for lost time.
“It’s been incredibly difficult to plan our wedding during the pandemic because there’s a lot of people from out of town that would like to come,” said bride-to-be Allie Hooks.
It read: âMY BODY MY CHOICEâ with â#unmaskarkansasâ at the bottom.
Apparently, he didnât know thatâs the pro-choice womenâs movement slogan to allow abortion. Then again, anti-maskers arenât known for their knowledge or theyâd be wearing masks when out in public to keep from catching COVID-19 and helping to stop its spread.
With more than 400 dead in Northeast Arkansas, sooner or later everyone is going to know someone they loved who died of COVID-19. It will be too late for the anti-masker crowd.
Another woman held a sign that said, âI WILL NOT COMPLY TO SOCIALISM.â If the law requires women canât go bare-chested in public, Iâm pretty sure requiring people to wear masks in public during a pandemic isnât socialism.
JONESBORO â As protesters waved signs outside, Gov. Asa Hutchinson met with local health authorities and elected officials Thursday at the Red Wolf Convention Center to discuss the local fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
âItâs actually startling whenever you hear the health care experts within that room say they expect to have an increased acceleration of new COVID cases in the coming weeks,â Hutchinson told reporters. âAnd whenever weâre already at a high level in Arkansas with the large number of deaths each day, new cases and stretched hospitalizations, that catches my attention.â
Hutchinson commended the local hospitals for coordinating patient management, but hospital administrators made clear the stress is getting worse.
