Panama City gets new Xfinity store from Comcast

According to a news release from Comcast, the store will feature a full range of products and services, including Xfinity Internet, Xfinity X1, Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity Voice and Xfinity Home products. The latest mobile devices from Apple, Google, LG, Motorola and Samsung, as well as wireless accessories, are available for purchase. Customers also can pay bills, get answers to account-related questions and return old equipment or pick up new equipment, the release said. Comcast has implemented several new store policies to address COVID-19 safety measurements, including requiring face coverings for all employees and customers, practicing social distancing measures, limiting the number of customers in the store, installing plexiglass dividers between interaction areas, kiosks and on workstations and cleaning stores professionally twice every day, the release said. 

Panama City, Florida biz hit by Hurricane Michael eligible for grant

PANAMA CITY Some Panama City businesses can start applying for grant money to repair their properties that were damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018. Called the Hometown Revitalization Program, the federal aid will pay for repairs and improvements to private commercial structures damaged by the hurricane. The city recently hosted a Zoom meeting with consultants Nathan Beam and Jamie McNease from Hagerty Consulting about the program. Hagerty Consulting is the city s Federal Emergency Management Agency consulting firm. Requirements for the program are listed on Panama City s website at pcgov.org. Among them are that the repairs have to be for damage from Hurricane Michael, the business must be registered with the state and the business must be owned or controlled by people eligible to work in the United States.

Some Panama City Florida Comcast customers getting faster internet

The News Herald/USA TODAY NETWORK The News Herald PANAMA CITY Some Comcast customers in Panama City and the surrounding area can soon expect faster internet speeds. According to a press release from Comcast officials, the telecommunications giant has announced it will increase the speeds of two of its fastest-growing internet tiers in Florida. This upgrade reflects the growing trend of customers wanting faster speeds as many work at home or attend school virtually.  The release stated that effective immediately, Xfinity Extreme customers throughout Florida will see their download speed increase from 300 Mbps to 400 Mbps. Later in the first quarter of 2021, Extreme Pro internet customers will see speeds increase from 600 Mbps to 800 Mbps.
