ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Just a day after Arbor Day, nearly 400 local Boy Scouts Saturday took part in a multi-park effort, one tree at a time, or, thousands.
As part of a Good For Nature community service project for Arbor Day weekend scouts planted more than 3,200 tree seedlings across four parks: Seneca Park, Mendon Ponds Park, Ellison Park, and Powder Mills Park.
Organizers say the new trees will replace ash trees that have died due to emerald ash borers, which are insects that feed on a tree s bark.
