Why should we worry about the termination of service of three Kashmiris by the Jammu and Kashmir administration? It is natural to assume the three are guilty of dereliction of duty or violation of the code of conduct state governments have for their employees. However, that is certainly not the case here.

SRINAGAR: Kashmir seems to have returned to normalcy, but people have refused to accept the Centre s 2019 decision of revoking Jammu and Kashmir s special status, says a report released by the Concerned Citizens Group led by former Union finance minister Yashwant Sinha.
The Group visited Kashmir from March 30 to April 2. It was its third visit to the Union territory after the central government revoked the special status of the erstwhile state and the eighth since violence erupted in the Valley following the gunning down of terrorist leader Burhan Wani in July 2016.

The Concerned Citizens’ Group’s report has said the Centre’s virtual obliteration of the political mainstream, nullification of Article 370, abrogation of Article 35A, bifurcation of the state and the enactment of the new domicile laws seemed to have increased the all-pervasive sense of fear, humiliation and hopelessness among the Kashmiri population. It said people were still in shock and seemed psychologically disturbed showing heightened anxiety and paranoia about the future.
The Concerned Citizens Group claimed that people were still not ready to accept the Centre s decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
