Normal is not good enough. We need to plan for growth, and small businesses play an integral role in Greater Cleveland s economic prosperity. They are local job creators. They are innovators of products and technologies. And they strengthen our economic competitiveness and the vibrancy of our neighborhoods.
However, data collected from Cuyahoga County s Small Business Stabilization Fund revealed that 37% of firms believe they cannot survive if current economic conditions persist much longer. For minority- and women-owned businesses, the challenge is disproportionately higher. Black-owned businesses shared that they were more likely to rely on personal savings to survive. To advance our post-pandemic rebuilding efforts, we must support the hardest-hit businesses and the entrepreneur service providers who support them.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - With a pandemic and two hurricanes, the last year hasnât been easy for local small businesses, thatâs why the City of Lake Charles created the Small Business Stabilization Program.

âWe designed this Small Business Stabilization Program - itâs actually a forgivable loan. And we used the federal guidelines to make sure that weâre following all of the rules, but this was made available to local small businesses inside the City of Lake Charles.â

The Seattle City Council this week approved a $5 million relief package to help small businesses and workers in the city impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Of the $5 million, half will go to help restaurants and bars and the other half will go toward hospitality workers.
“In response to skyrocketing cases in our region and state, Governor Inslee rightly implemented statewide restrictions to curb indoor gathering and slow the spread of COVID-19. But there’s no denying these restrictions have impacted our small businesses and workers, who have been reeling from the pandemic for almost a year now,” Mayor Jenny Durkan said in a statement.
