9 Bikes That Have Won the Albstadt XC World Cup May 6, 2021 Don t have an account? Sign up While technical tracks and full suspension bikes have become commonplace in World Cup racing, there s one venue that sticks to a more old-school style of racing - Albstadt. The German round of the World Cup series features a course largely consisting of smooth singletrack and wooden features and as a result, it s a track where hardtails still rule the roost. We re taking a look over the past six years of racing and only one of the bikes has rear suspension; for the rest of the winners, it s a hardtail party with bikes from the likes of Scott, Liv, BMC and more. Spotted (Again): Santa Cruz s New XC Race Bike - Albstadt XC World Cup 2021 May 6, 2021 Don t have an account? Sign up The first World Cup XC race of the year is getting underway in Albstadt, Germany, and Santa Cruz has a brand new bike on hand for their racers. We first caught a glimpse of it last month, but now it s possible to take a closer look at the details of the new frame. Merida Ninety-Six RC 9000 first ride review

Merida Ninety-Six RC 9000 frame and suspension details As with most cross-country race bikes, the Ninety-Six RC provides 100mm of travel for both front and rear wheels, connected by a carbon frame. Continuing the trends that have been seen across the board, the rear chainstay (or seatstay) pivot has been eschewed in favour of flexible stays that have enough flexibility built in to account for the flex needed as the suspension moves through its travel. This saves weight and reduces areas requiring maintenance. The main pivot sits just above the chainring, and incorporates a small chainguide for added security. The shock is driven by a carbon rocker-link, which swings from the top- and seat-tube junction.
