A total of 782 Cork households are still waiting on Warmer Home Scheme works and Cork County Council are asking for additional resources to be allocated to reduce the waiting list and waiting times.

A county councillor has described how many elderly people must wait 18 months in cold, damp houses due to massive backlogs in the Warmer Homes Scheme.
Carrigaline Cllr Seamus McGrath was responding to a motion at this week’s full council meeting calling on the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan to drastically speed up the process.
It is critical that proper insulation is put in place in line with a modern day standard of living, the Fianna Fáil councillor said.

Local councillor Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere, is calling for urgent action to reduce the current long waiting times for the surveying and the commencement of works under the Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme.
“This scheme is designed to deliver a range of energy efficiency measures free of charge to low-income households vulnerable to energy poverty, said the Fianna Fáil councillor.
“To leave vulnerable households and persons on such long waiting lists places them in a precarious position.
The Budget 2021 change kicking in next month with most Irish households facing a hike
Carbon tax will increase by €7.50 every year until 2029 and then by €6.50 in 2030, bringing carbon tax to €100 per tonne by 2030.
