Stabbing sends one to hospital Posted on July 14, 2021 by oshawaexpress in CRIME A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Oshawa early Tuesday morning. Durham police were called to the area of Simcoe Street South and Metcalfe Street for the report of a fight on Tuesday, July 13 around 12:55 a.m. Police say officers arrived and located the victim who was suffering from injuries as a result of being stabbed. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. The first suspect is described as a white male, between 25 and 30 years old with a shaved head.

Man stabbed in Oshawa A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Oshawa. Durham police were called to the area of Simcoe Street South and Olive Avenue on Tuesday, July 13, around 1:05 a.m., for the report of a man who had been assaulted. Police say officers arrived and located the victim who was suffering from injuries to his face as a result of being stabbed. Officers learned the victim had been walking southbound on Simcoe Street when a male suspect, who was riding a bike, and a female walked past him. The male suspect then got off his bike and punched the victim in the face.

Gas station robbed in Oshawa Posted on June 9, 2021 by oshawaexpress in CRIME Durham police arrested a suspect following a gas station robbery in Oshawa over the weekend. Officers were called to a robbery at the Petro Canada on Simcoe Street South on Saturday, June 5, around 9:21 p.m. Police say the suspect entered the store, approached the clerk and made a demand for cash. The clerk left the cash area, while the suspect damaged the cash register, fleeing with cash. Officers were involved in a foot pursuit with the suspect along Wentworth Street until the male jumped over the Wentworth Bridge.

Council endorsed a heritage designation for the whole of Lakeview Park and the Second Marsh under the Ontario Heritage Act at its March 29, 2021 meeting. Regional and City Councillor Brian Nicholson says this is a “signature motion” for the city to give these sites heritage designations, who notes the reaction from the community has been universal in support of the designations.
