Head says primary has changed for the better

THE head teacher of a school told it has to improve says it is getting better. Seven Fields Primary in Penhill was rated as requiring improvement for the quality of its education following an inspection by Ofsted. But head Damian Booth said: “We feel we are a good school that is on a journey to becoming an even better one. “We are confident that the people whose opinion matters most – the children, the parents and the local community – can see this. “We cannot control the rating we are awarded on any given day – all we can do is continue to work tirelessly to make this a school that local people can be proud of.

The couple who bought a World War II ship on eBay

Andrew Price/View Finder Pictures During World War II, as part of the ML Flotilla, the ship served as a navigation leader in Operation Neptune, the pivotal seaborne invasion of northern France known as D-Day. It was repurposed as a fast dispatch boat after the war, before being transferred to the UK s customs agency. By the 1970s, L1392 had been transformed into a charter vessel and renamed Sarinda. After going through several reinventions, including being converted to a luxury motor yacht, it was decommissioned in 2013. Gemma and Simon, who run a business building camper vans together, knew that fixing up the 80-year-old vessel, which weighs 59-tons, would cost them thousands and require a great deal of time.

Gemma and Simon Robins spent seven weeks converting a 2020 Fiat Ducato into a hi-tech campervan. Simon, 41, built an electric hydraulic scissor lift to provide access to the bed in the pop top roof. The couple, from Wrexham, have tested the luxury vehicle by staying overnight with their two children, Mason, nine, and 12-year-old Emilia. Besides the full shower room, toilet, four traveling seats, two double beds, fridge, oven, sink and three-burner hob as well as space to transport a motorbike. They are now selling the solar-powered four-berth van for £60,000.  Gemma Robins, 34, and husband Simon, 31, from Wrexham, have built a £60,000 motorhome which is the first in the world to have a lift to transport tired campers up to bed.
