PETERSBURG – Simone Shelton was leaving the Summit Pointe Apartment complex Wednesday morning when she noticed a Petersburg Police vehicle with siren and lights going, apparently rushing to a call. That was not to be her first encounter with speeding cars this particular day.
A few minutes later, sitting at the stop light at the intersection of Defense and Squirrel Level roads, Shelton noticed a burgundy car in her rear-view mirror. The car was approaching her at a high speed, and was being followed by a police car.
