Osbourne stashed away a lock and later gifted it to Seattle artist, Nicole DePolo, after Kurt s death in 1994.
Along with the strands of dirty blond hair are photos of the haircut in progress and a handwritten note that reads: 29/10/89: Tess cut Kurt s hair in Birmingham, England, 27 Holy Rd., Handsworth, Birmingham B202BU.
DePolo writes in an affidavit that Osbourne must have had a sense that Kurt would become a musical force. She further credited the hairdresser with giving the frontman his first blond pageboy hairdo just before his image began to circulate throughout the world.

The site Iconic Auctions is selling six strands of the late
Nirvana frontmanâs hair. They come from a haircut Cobain got in 1989 from a friend named
Tessa Osbourne. Following Cobainâs death in 1994, Osbourne presented them to a Seattle artist named Nicole DePolo, who then passed them to
John Reznikoff, whoâs described by Iconic Auctions as âthe worldâs foremost hair collector and expert.â
