District reports 1,282 new COVID-19 cases on Friday

Against the backdrop of a sudden rise in cases,
Pune district reported 1,282 fresh COVID cases on Friday, which took the caseload in the district to 10,53,595, even as active cases increased to 10,279.
The death toll, meanwhile, rose to 17,949 as 13 people succumbed to COVID related diseases in the last 24 hours. Apart from these, the district reported 1,246 recoveries amongst COVID patients, and the overall count of recoveries stood at 10,25,367 in the district. The number of active cases in the district has increased to 10,279, of which 5,672 are in hospital isolation and 4,607 are in home isolation.

COVID cases continued to surpass recoveries in the district for the second consecutive day. As many as 1,180 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours in
Pune district. This takes the cumulative total of COVID cases in the district to 10,52,313.
Also, 17 deaths amongst COVID patients were reported on Thursday; the district death toll now stands at 17,931.
In the same time frame, 870 recoveries were seen amongst COVID patients, taking total recoveries till date to 10,24,121. With this, active cases have risen to 10,261 crossing the 10K mark in Pune district. Of these, 5,821 are in hospital isolation and 4,440 in home isolation.

Pollution Control Board (
MPCB) officials set up an air pollution monitoring unit to check the degrading air quality caused by the ready-mix-cement (RMC) plant in the Mamurdi’s Urban Forest Housing Society.
Mirror had earlier published the news of residents’ lives becoming miserable due to an RMC plant located close to the residential society. Due to the ill-effects of the RMC plant, the residents are suffering multiple health issues and pollution menace.
Nitin Shinde, a sub-regional officer of MPCB, told Mirror, “After the detailed coverage of Mirror, our team visited the society and inspected the RMC plant nearby. We are regularly checking the air quality of the housing society and keeping tabs on it. ”

The number of fresh COVID-19 cases surpassed the number of recoveries in the district on Wednesday. As many as 1,479 new cases were reported in the district, taking this total till date over the 10.5 lakh mark to 10,51,133.
