Terrance D. Brown will be the new Dean of Potter College of Arts & Letters at WKU beginning July 1.
Dr. Brown is currently the Founding Executive Director of the School of the Arts at the University of North Alabama in Florence where he provides vision and leadership for the Department of Music, Department of Visual Arts and Design and the Cinematic Arts and Theatre Program.
“Dr. Brown has proven his leadership abilities and we are excited to see him apply those skills in guiding Potter College and working with our other academic leaders as we continue our progress toward the goals set in our comprehensive plan,” WKU President Timothy C. Caboni said. “He understands what it means to be student-centered and how to help students succeed.”

The magical sea creature Thyota has a seemingly impossible task: to rid the ocean of pollution and save the coral forest. Consuming toxic contaminants and freeing other creatures are key to reaching this goal, but both come at a cost to Thyota’s own health. Traveling through the ocean, Thyota must make choices that will affect the entire marine ecosystem.
Thyota is the main character in a new game, titled “Metamorphosis: Thyota’s Journey,” under development at the USC School of Cinematic Arts and in collaboration with the USC Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies, headquartered at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

ADAM ZAINAL addressed the subject of teen pregnancy in his short film
Kantoi in 2019. The 25-minute film was even nominated for best short film at the Malaysia International Film Festival and Freedom Film Festival.
It has since been screened at numerous schools and events to create awareness on teen pregnancy. It has also attracted the attention of a production house, Super Wonderful Films, which gave him an opportunity to direct his first feature film.
“They loved the way I told my story in
Kantoi,” said 25-year-old Adam, a graduate from the Faculty of Cinematic Arts at the Multimedia University in Johor.

USC alumnus Sandy Reed’s mother Catharine Reed, the vice president of Charitable Programs at H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation and the School of Dramatic Arts recently created the Sandy Reed Endowed Professional Development Fund in honor of his memory.
It was a Friday in November 2014, right after the first Chekov class of the fall semester, when Sandy emailed Mary Joan Negro, associate professor of theater practice at the School of Dramatic Arts. In his email, Sandy expressed his excitement about Chekov’s dimensional characters, such as Astrov.
