ViacomCBS Swings to Q4 Profit As Company Reveals Paramount Plus Content Details

ViacomCBS swung to a profit in the fourth quarter, announcing results just before it unveiled a wide range of new details about the content it intends to show on the streaming-video hub Paramount Plus. The new venue is a critical initiative for the company as it seeks to vie with other media conglomerates also chasing consumers moving steadily from linear TV to on-demand programming.
The New York company, which owns the CBS broadcast network, the Showtime cable network and the Paramount movie studio, said revenue during the period rose 3% to $6.87 billion, buoyed by increases in ad sales, affiliate fees and subscriptions to streaming services like CBS All Access and the broadband version of Showtime. The company said its U.S. streaming subscriber base rose 71% to 19.2 million.

The Onkyo TX-NR696 is the best AV home-theater receiver for those looking for a budget-ish option. This receiver was released in 2019 with a wealth of connectivity that supports multiple audio formats by way of a big, bold sound. Nearly a half-million Hyundai Tucson SUVs have been added to an ongoing recall for a dangerous defect that can result in the vehicles catching on fire.
About the Hyundai Tucson Recall
According to CNET, 427,000 2016-2018 Hyundai Tucson SUV models were recently added to an ongoing recall which began with 180,000 vehicles in September of 2020.
Initially, only 2019-2021 models were affected by this issue; however, the recall was expanded this month following new findings on older vehicles.
CNET notes that Hyundai had to file more recall notices on affected vehicles with the NHTSA for safety hazards concerning the ABS brakes and hydraulic electronic control units. An electrical short can result from the defect possibly resulting in vehicle fires.
