Kota Kinabalu: The High Court here issued a warrant of arrest against a 40-year-old man, who was appealing against his conviction and sentence of 13 years imprisonment for committing physical sexual harassment against his girlfriend’s daughter, when he failed to appear in court Tuesday.
Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell issued the warrant on Matjan Yusop following his absence for hearing of his appeal on Tuesday.
The court set June 16 for review of the arrest warrant.

On June 20, 2019 Matjan was found guilty after a full trial of the case.
He was convicted of committing the offence by fondling the 12-year-old girl’s breasts and rubbing his private on the girl at 3am on Aug 11, 2017 in a house in Membakut, Beaufort.

Mohammad Gerseyrey Abd Mulok, 28, and Mohd Dzulhilmy Ibrahim, 32, pleaded not guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, to the charge against them on Thursday.

The offence under Section 375B of the Penal Code carries a jail term of between 10 years and 30 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court set June 8 for case management and released the duo on a bail of RM10,000 with RM5,000 deposited in two local sureties.
