The Centre also urged the High Court to dismiss the petition with exemplary costs on the ground that it is an abuse of the process of law.

Centre files reply on plea seeking to stop construction activity in Central Vista Project ANI | Updated: May 11, 2021 11:29 IST New Delhi [India], May 11 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Tuesday said that it will hear tomorrow, a petition seeking to stop construction activity in the Central Vista Project in compliance with orders issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority during the subsistence of the peak phase of the pandemic. Meanwhile, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the Centre has filed a reply to the petition. A Bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh noted that reply was not on record and directed to bring the Center s affidavit on record.

Central Vista project: Delhi HC to hear plea today on staying construction amid raging COVID-19 pandemic

Highlights The construction work for the project is being carried out since Jan 5, 2021, after the SC dismissed petitions challenging the project Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project in December 2020 New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday (May 12) will hear the plea seeking direction to stop or suspend all construction activity of the Central Vista Avenue Redevelopment Project in compliance with orders issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases, an ANI report said. According to the report, the plea states that at a time when the city of Delhi is grappling with a devastating coronavirus outbreak and when all efforts, particularly and more so by the state and its agencies, have to be towards controlling the spiralling situation, the impugned acts of the Respondents, will nullify and negate all those efforts.
