SANTA FE – After nine years, Cindy Rivera’s family is finally getting answers about what led to her 2012 disappearance in Las Vegas.
New Mexico State Police now say Rivera, who was 19 years old at the time, was kidnapped and killed by her ex-husband, Christopher Trujillo, with the help of his cousin Anselmo “Chemo” Ortiz.
Ortiz, 37, of Serafina, was charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping on July 9. He currently has a warrant out for his arrest and is considered dangerous, State Police say. Trujillo died by suicide in May and had incriminating recordings on his phone in which he admitted to killing Rivera with Ortiz’s help, according to the arrest warrant affidavit filed in Ortiz’s case.
