Citroen to bank on SUVs and localised vehicles to emerge as a major player in India
Citroen declined to share the timeline for launch of the first vehicle on the new platform under the C-Cubed program, but said it will introduce a new vehicle every year in the country to shore up volumes, starting 2021.

New Delhi: French car maker Citroen, which is set to enter the Indian market later this year, is banking on heavily localized vehicles and Indian consumers’ marked preference for sports utility vehicles to emerge as a major player in the country over the next few years.

NEW DELHI: French automaker Citroën will unveil with C5 Aircross in India on February 1, 2021.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will be brought to India as a CKD and is expected to compete with the likes of Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, and Skoda Karoq in terms of pricing. The premium SUV will be unveiled on February 1, 2021.
Trials had begun in 2020 and test mules were spotted several times on the road. Citroen’s parent company, which is part of European auto major Groupe PSA, opened India Technical Center [ITC] in Chennai last year.
According to reports, Citroen Aircross C5 will be offered in single, fully-loaded trim and will come with the comfort of 8-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, auto climate and powered tail gate.
