TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Women’s Basketball Head Coach Sue Semrau has announced the addition of assistant coach Craig Carter to the Seminole coaching staff.
“It’s a privilege to be able to work with Coach Carter,” Semrau said. “He is a coach with integrity and extensive experience. He is “fluent” in the game of basketball having hands-on experience in every area. He is also versatile, having served in corporate America and as a teacher. As a former player at Rutgers, he understands the needs and the challenges of the athletes we coach.”
Carter brings a strong background to the Florida State coaching staff, spending the previous five seasons with Wisconsin women’s basketball, including the 2020-21 year as the team’s associate head coach.

After last week’s dismantling of Illinois, I discussed the notion of a “start” vs “season”’ and I’ve been thinking about that a lot since, partially because I think it’s a useful framing when you look at teams at the extreme edges. It’s related to Brian’s sometime discussion of The Leap; it’s worthwhile to notice when an erstwhile good-not-great team comes out and starts raining holy hell on lesser teams.
So, it's been a minute. Michigan's first two scheduled Big Ten games were postponed because of COVID-19 concerns in the program, meaning they haven't played in a game setting since December 9th against Butler. The Wolverines are set to retake the court tomorrow afternoon at home against Wisconsin, which is off to an 0-2 start in conference play, before a marquee matchup at Northwestern on Sunday.
The Standings
The table is a bit rougher on the women's side because, unlike with Big Ten men's basketball, there have been a number of cancelations/postponements. By my count, four of the 16 scheduled conference matchups have been postponed (every game involving Michigan or Ohio State, both of which had outbreaks) and an additional 12 non-conference games involving Big Ten teams have been postponed or outright canceled.
