COVID-19 transforms learning experiences

SIDNEY COVID-19 has greatly impacted the operations of Sidney City Schools. The district, like schools all over, has had to shift how we function–from the shutdown in the spring to adapting to new learning options and more this fall – our teachers, staff, and administration have shown dedication and adaptability to new processes and approaches to bring quality instruction in the midst of uncertainty due to the pandemic, especially with remote learning.

COVID-19 Sidney City Schools dismissed for Spring Break 2020 knowing schools would be temporarily closed due to the looming novel coronavirus. By the end of that break, plans forged to ensure students had access to daily meals and online educational engagement. As time passed, we learned we would be off for much longer; our staff worked to develop a more regimented distance
Meetings postponed
SIDNEY The Sidney City Schools Board of Education meeting planned for Tuesday, Feb. 16, has been canceled due to the weather.
The board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium,

HOUSTON The Hardin-Houston Local School Board of Education meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 6, has been postponed due to the weather.
It has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

SIDNEY The monthly meeting of the Shelby County Land Reutilization Corp. that was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 16, has been canceled because of weather.
The Land Bank’s next meeting is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. March 16 in the Shelby County Annex.
Physician goes ‘extra mile’ to care for patients

SIDNEY On Tuesday morning, family medicine physician, Dr. Michael Beyer, walked close to 2 miles through nine inches of snow to his medical practice located at the Sidney City Schools Board of Education Building located on Fourth Avenue in Sidney, Ohio.
Beyer, a Wilson Health Medical Group family physician, attempted to drive to his office, but due to snow accumulation was unable to get his vehicle out of his driveway.
“I knew that I had patients counting on me so I just decided to walk,” Beyer said. “It took me about 30 minutes in the snow and it actually was a nice morning to be outside.”

HOUSTON The Hardin-Houston Local School District Board of Education will meet Monday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in the media center. Items on the agenda include approving monthly financial reports and expenditures for January 2021; adopting the school calendar; and personnel issues.
Minster Board of Education
MINSTER Minster Local School Board of Education will meet Monday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the elementary school large group meeting room.
Items on the agenda include reports from administrators, approve the Memorandum of Understanding with the Minster Teachers Association Regarding Leadership Teams;the first reading of the Standards Based Teacher Evaluation Policy; approve personnel recommendations; and an executive session for the purpose of employment and compensation of a public employee and preparing for negotiations.
