But it might take decades to buy and develop the land. “If we really do believe that this is part of what we need as a community, we should have enough courage and stand up and say, this is what we need, ” Stack said near the end of an hour-long discussion over the land at city council s meeting Monday, July 12.

The Scranton Iron Furnaces along Cedar Avenue in the city transformed into a performance space for the Scranton Shakespeare Festival.
Actors performed a Bard favorite - A Midsummer Night s Dream to an outdoor crowd.

Blackburn magistrates jailed Gareth Johnny Morley for a total of eight months after hearing the latest offence put him in breach of three suspended prison sentences imposed on October. Morley, 39, of Cedar Avenue, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified. He was further disqualified for 18 months and ordered to pay £128 victim surcharge on his release from prison.
