There was a time when nearly every automotive brand had a minivan in their portfolio. Not anymore. Today there are only four on the market in the U.S.
Minivans can be had from Chrysler, Honda, Kia and Toyota…that’s it.
Yes, there are some legitimate reasons for the lack of minivans. As you all know, the utility vehicle (UV) is the popular vehicle type to have today. They are roomy, versatile, flexible to carry passengers or cargo, have good towing ability, can be equipped with all-wheel drive, provide good outward visibility and, today, they now can deliver car-like fuel economy.

The first quarter of 2021 is behind us as we all continue to move slowly through the pandemic tunnel with us now seeing some light at its end. Auto industry sales have been slowed a bunch over the last year but things are now opening up. Kia Motors America (KMA) had its best-ever month and an all-time high for first quarter sales. Through March 2021, Kia sales are up 9-percent over the previous first quarter high set in 2016. Kia’s midsize 3-row Telluride SUV has helped bring in a lot of those sales.

The opportunity to experience driving a Rolls-Royce is indeed rare. Just about ten years ago I drove the new, back then, 2011 Rolls-Royce Ghost. That was the first Goodwood Ghost.
The Ghost came about in response to a whole new generation of clients, both in age and attitude. The Ghost is a smaller, more approachable four-door saloon that moves beyond the older image of the flagship Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Now in early spring 2021 I am again finding myself about to sit behind the wheel and experience the completely new 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost. I would have a weekend to experience and enjoy luxury, refinement and the Rolls-Royce Magic Carpet Ride.
