BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 74-year-old Bend woman was killed Thursday when her SUV was struck by a pickup towing a large trailer on Southwest Century Drive, Bend police said.
Officers were dispatched around 11:45 a.m. to the reported injury crash at the intersection of Century Drive and East Campbell Road, by Mount Bachelor Village, Lt. Clint Burleigh said.
They found that a Dodge pickup heading west on Century Drive, pulling a large trailer with equipment, struck the driver’s side of a Nissan SUV whose driver, Kathleen Sue Case, was trying to turn left (east) onto Century Drive, Burleigh said.

A serial drink driver has been jailed after he crashed into a hedge after downing two bottles of wine in an hour-and-a-half.
Ian Day, from Northam, lost control of his VW Touareg as he tried to join the A39 at Abbotsham while driving too fast and more than two and a half times over the drink drive limit.
He was jailed after a judge at Exeter Crown Court told him he has the worst record for drink driving and driving while disqualified that he had ever seen.
Antique dealer Day has eight previous convictions for both offences and was just over a year into a 50-month ban when he was arrested in September last year.
Pro tips on the best snowshoeing this season Some outdoor winter staples look decidedly different this year, and others were just canceled. Not so for self-guided snowshoeing. It s pretty easy to socially distance on snowshoe trails, and they re often less crowded than skiing trails. To help everyone make the most of the trails this year, we reached out to local snowshoer and Snowshoe Trail Coordinator for the Central Oregon Nordic Club, Bob Timmer, to get tips for newbies and seasoned snowshoe enthusiasts alike. Timmer has seen a lot of what Central Oregon snowshoeing has to offer. Since the CONC has a volunteer service agreement with the Forest Service, he s coordinated snowshoe trail maintenance at trails including Edison Butte Sno-Park and the sno-parks off Century Drive since 2013.

BEND, Ore. Mike Schindler assumed it would take a couple weeks to sell out his seasonlong nordic ski gear rental fleet.
But the co-owner at Bend’s Sunnyside Sports sold out in less than eight hours one day in early November.
“We made it reasonable pricing and sent out an email,” Schindler said. “It was probably 100-plus setups. We had people lining up. That was the real lever of like, oh, wow, there’s a lot of people who are wanting to do this. It was crazy how many people came in and how many people took advantage of that.”
