This is not the time to simply throw caution to the wind. But at the same time to keep things locked down tighter than a drum especially when institutions such as schools can function reasonably safely with protocols in place runs the risk of doing significant, long lasting damage to otherwise healthy people.
Against stacking the deck

It’s common knowledge how I feel about adding more of the good old boys and girls from the status quo that believe it’s common people don’t know anything about anything. I support Mr. White for the council appointment and believe we need new fresh ideas in local government.
We need more private citizens that have not worked for the city or for the police department to get involved so that we become a stronger Ceres.
Unfortunately, Ceres has to rely on a newspaper based in Turlock which is with an editor that wouldn’t know fair reporting if it was right in front of his face. Mr. Benzinger (sic) you have taken your attacks and Couper Condit to a third grade level by calling Couper “Pooper.”
Experience is needed for this City Council
Chris Vierra must be shaking his head and thinking of asking Ceres residents: “Miss me yet?”
If you want a reason why Ceres needs experience on the City Council, look no farther than Javier Lopez’s lack of experience.
For decades I marveled at how Ceres city leaders remained free from scandal and controversy as other city councils and members in Hughson, Riverbank and Turlock experienced their own embarrassments. Now it seems like the new Ceres City Council is the laughingstock of the county.

Preserving our farmland preserves our tax base

Recent election results will lead to significant turnover of leadership in Stanislaus County. Most cities in Stanislaus County are cash strapped. We are just at the beginning of a pension crisis that will be a financial drain on our cities for the foreseeable future. There is also the reality that we do not and will not have adequate funding to maintain our roads and can’t tax our way out of it.
There is a direct correlation with the fiscal health of a city and land use decisions that are made. Low-density residential development on newly converted farmland does not generate adequate revenue to mitigate its full impact on city services and infrastructure. Others are coming around to what I’ve been observing
I must tell you that at times I feel like a voice crying in the wilderness of California.
I sometimes feel defeated because it seems like the rest of the state – particularly the newer people on the planet – vote the opposite way of the way things should go. However, the success of the petitions to trigger a recall election against our governor gives me hope – but I’m not holding my breath.
I also feel vindication. I had warned Ceres voters about electing two local candidates, Javier Lopez and Couper Condit but they did it anyway. Now those hit-and-run supporters of both men don’t seem to be anywhere in sight to defend their dismal performances.
