Killing off working class jobs in the name of social justice in Long Beach

Help support our local food banks to help the struggling

Help support our local food banks to help the struggling Editor, Ceres Courier, With this current economic recession, many of us know about the high demand put on local food banks and pantries. If you donate to such local food outlets, almost all benefits received will be by our neighbors and friends. Please make your contributions available to these local nonprofits, so they can service thousands of people in need here. Stanislaus County has one of the highest poverty rates in California. These food outlets have come up with unique ways to reach those in need of food. New outlets have been set up, and the older existing food outlets have managed to do with much less, and still deliver the goods. You can contribute via their websites, or just send a check to organizations like Second Harvest Food Bank, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Love Christian Center, Salvation Army and many other food distribution sites serving the greater Ceres urban area.

Shutdown is nothing more than a rely on government scam

Shutdown is nothing more than a rely on government scam See how this works: 1). The governor shuts down jobs and the economy for a flu that is 99.5 percent survivable. 2). His actions cause people to lose their jobs unnecessarily. 3). People naturally can’t pay their bills and their rents. 4). Our altruistic governor comes to their rescue and uses taxpayer funds to pay 80 percent of their overdue rent as long as the landlord takes a 20 percent loss. 5). The rescued renter hails the state as a hero and who “cares” and is indebted to vote Democrat from here until infinity. Wise up, folks. We’re just being used for as political pawns.

D C , could level the playing field for California during the next four years

D.C., could level the playing field for California during the next four years Dennis Wyatt President Joe Biden may give California an unintended boost assuming folks in Sacramento can resist the temptation to one up Washington, D.C. Biden’s massive stimulus bill includes raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. The federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 an hour. It hasn’t been raised since 2009. You may ask yourself why this makes any difference to California. The minimum wage is at $13 now, will go to $14 in 2022 and then $15 in 2023. If it does pass Congress it could accelerate California reaching $15 sooner than later unless a federal minimum is phased in like it has been in the Golden State.

Nothing about this lockdown makes any sense to many of us

Nothing about this lockdown makes any sense to many of us Nothing about the governor’s lockdown makes sense. My daughter-in-law has been the most careful of anyone I know in fact she and my son have purposely avoided family celebrations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She has stayed away from stores, preferring for home deliveries. Who gets COVID-19? She does. My son, who is her husband, doesn’t get it. All of the people I know who have tested positive for COVID-19, all are fine. I am aware of some recent deaths in Ceres and I don’t make light of their COVID related deaths. But if the most careful of people are getting it while quarantining themselves then why are we shutting down our country and destroying the economic livelihood of millions of people who have to feed their families?
