₹1,140-cr highway projects for Arunachal; ₹1,005-cr for Telangana

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned four projects of 52.4-km worth ₹1,139.12 crore for Arunachal Pradesh during 2020-21, tweeted the Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday. Also, the Ministry has sanctioned 195.6-km of National Highways at a cost of ₹1,005.38 Crore in Telangana for 2020-21.
All the Arunachal Pradesh projects will be undertaken on engineering procurement mode, which means the projects will be done on a fully government-funded basis.
The projects include two packages relating to four-laning of Itanagar to Banderdewa stretch (with a budget ₹496.47 crore and ₹437.6 crore); widening of existing two-lane with paved shoulder from Hukanjuri to Khonsa (with a budget ₹182.55 crore), four-laning of Holongi to Itanagar section (₹22.5 crore), as per the tweet.
These projects pertain to seven states and union territories, including Maharashtra, Assam and Ladakh. Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has accorded approval to upgradation, rehabilitation and reconstruction of a number of projects, across the country, it said in a statement. These include Rs 2,801.33 crore-worth projects in Maharashtra and RS 1,259 crore-worth projects in Assam. According to the ministry, projects worth Rs 779 crore have been approved for Ladakh while Rs 810 crore projects have been approved for Andhra Pradesh.

New Delhi, March 17 : The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a plea seeking directions to the Centre to mandatorily provide a common duct for all public utilities in the construction plan of highways and other roads, to avoid unnecessary re-digging.
A bench, headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprising Justices A.S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian, after examining the plea, said: It is a good idea . The top court issued notice to the Centre, the National Highway Authority of India and others on the plea by Harapriya Patel.
